For OVAN perforated aluminium folding screen doors. Check your existing door's opening direction and mounting position before recording reveal-fit or face-fit measurements.
Preparation
Prepare first, then take your readings
One tape measure. One accurate set of readings.
Read the scale correctly, then enter millimetres.
The examples below use a metric tape measure with major centimetre markings. Check the units on your tape first. Do not read inch markings as centimetres.
Tape reading example 01
How do you read the 2 after 200?
Find the red 200, then count 2 centimetres to the right: this is 202 centimetres.
2020millimetres202 cm × 10 = 2020 mm
Record 2020 millimetres, not 202 millimetres.
Tape reading example 02
How do you record the red 220?
The arrow points directly to the red 220 mark: this is 220 centimetres.
2200millimetres220 cm × 10 = 2200 mm
Record 2200 millimetres. Do not leave out a 0.
Tape-reading illustrations (AI-generated), not to actual scale. Keep the millimetre readings when measuring; do not round to centimetres. If the scale is unclear, photograph it for us to check.
Tools and site preparation
A tape measure, and pen and paper or a phone to record measurements.
Open the existing door to expose the edges to be measured.
Move objects that obstruct the reading; do not dismantle fixed components.
Seek help with high areas you cannot safely reach.
Units and opening numbers
Use millimetres throughout: 1 m = 1000 mm, 1 cm = 10 mm.
For example, record 2.103 m as 2103 mm.
Give each opening its own number, so that its dimensions and photos match.
For reveal fit, record the original readings. For face fit, add the allowances yourself, then enter the finished width and height.
Measurement diagrams are illustrative and not to scale. If you are unsure of a dimension, record it and take photos first. Installation reference dimensions are not final production dimensions.
01
Identify the handle first, then check the installation diagrams
Is the existing door handle on the left or right?
Stand inside, facing outside, and check the handle position with the existing door closed.
The diagrams below show a standard single hinged door. If the existing handle is on the right, the screen stacks to the left; if the handle is on the left, the screen stacks to the right, keeping clear of the side space occupied by the handle. Note the handle side first, then find the installation diagram below with the same handle position.
Both diagrams use an inside installation to show the left/right relationship. They do not mean that the handle side determines the installation side. To decide whether the screen goes inside or outside, also check the existing door’s swing.
Existing handle on the right → screen stacks leftThe existing door is hinged on the left. Below, select the installation diagram labelled ‘existing handle on the right’.
Existing handle on the left → screen stacks rightThe existing door is hinged on the right. Below, select the installation diagram labelled ‘existing handle on the left’.
The screen lock shown moves with the screen panels; it is not the existing door handle. The diagram does not confirm that there is enough clearance on site. Photograph the existing handle, door leaf and stacking side clearly. Double doors, unusual configurations and actual collision risks require manual confirmation.
Next, check the existing door’s swing and find the matching installation diagram.
Which way does the existing door open?
Existing hinged door opens outwards → screen installed inside; opens inwards → screen installed outside. The screen projects towards its installation side, away from the existing door’s swing.
Which surface is used for fixing?
Reveal fit and face fit describe how the screen frame is fixed, not whether it is indoors or outdoors. Reveal fit sits inside the opening; face fit sits over the frame surface.
Why recheck dimensions after changing between reveal fit and face fit?
Changing the fixing surface also changes the measurement reference. For reveal fit, record the four clear dimensions A, B, C and D again; the system generates quote dimensions using the smaller width and smaller height. For face fit, add the allowances yourself according to the face-fit diagram and submit only the final finished width and height.
Do not simply reuse finished dimensions from the other fitting method. Return to the original form, check the current diagram and readings, then tick the confirmation. Opening these instructions does not automatically confirm the check.
Why recheck after changing between inside and outside installation?
The edges, fixing surfaces, frame depth and handle clearance may differ on the two sides of an opening. Recheck the dimensions on the new installation side, and check that the top, bottom and side photos still show the actual positions.
Existing readings and photos will be kept. Return to the photo step to replace any photos that no longer apply. Once the dimensions and photos match the new position, return to the original page and tick the confirmation.
All diagrams below are top views: grey is the existing door frame, brown is the existing door leaf, and green is the screen door. Left and right are viewed standing inside and facing outside. The existing door is shown open at 75°; the brown dashed line marks its closed position. The screen is installed on the opposite side to the existing door’s swing. The screen stacks towards the existing hinge side, away from the existing handle side. Determine the handle side with the existing door closed.

The diagrams are not to scale. Reveal fit and face fit describe fixing methods, not inside or outside installation. For sliding doors, openings without an existing door, or uncertain situations, provide photos to help us confirm.
02
How to measure for reveal fit
Measure both width and height inside the opening.
Reveal-fit front view: A and B measure width; C and D measure height.
A · TOP CLEAR WIDTHMeasure from the left inside edge to the right inside edge with the tape measure.
B · BOTTOM CLEAR WIDTHTake another clear-width reading near the bottom.
C, D · Left and right clear heightsOn the left and right sides separately, measure from the inside top edge of the opening to the bottom mounting surface.
Keep all four readingsDo not record only an average, or round to centimetres.
Finished width = the smaller of A and B Finished height = the smaller of C and D
Example: A 910, B 900, C 2110, D 2100 mm 900 × 2100 mm is generated automatically, so you do not need to enter the finished width and height again. Final production dimensions still require manual confirmation.
03
How to measure for face fit
Add the allowances yourself, then enter only the finished width and height.
For face fit, submit only the finished outer-frame dimensions you have calculated. The website and factory do not add allowances again.
Measure the opening and check the fixing surfacesRemeasure the clear width and height, and check both sides, the top, the threshold and handle clearance. Ask us first if the opening is out of square or the position is uncertain.
Finished width: add 20 mm on each sideAdd 40 mm to the width in total. Each side-frame profile itself is 16 mm wide.
Finished height: add 40 mm in totalThe top track is 40 mm high. Measure the clear height from the top inside edge of the opening to the bottom track’s supporting surface, then add 40 mm to obtain the finished outer-frame height. Do not add the allowance again to dimensions that already include it.
Submit only dimensions that already include the allowances
Enter the finished outer-frame width and height from the outermost edge to the opposite outermost edge, in mm. You do not need to submit another set of clear opening dimensions for the system to add allowances.
The installation conditions and final production specifications still require manual review.
Do not enter clear opening dimensions without allowances in the face-fit finished-dimension fields, or add allowances again to finished dimensions that already include them.
04
Check the installation space
Check the frame depth and bottom threshold.
Available frame depth (reveal fit only)
Measure the available front-to-back depth at the intended installation position, not the opening width or the width of the side walls. Space occupied by handles or door leaves does not count as available space.
If you are unsure, select ‘Unsure’ and take clear side-view photos for us to check. Do not assume a minimum frame depth yourself.
Bottom threshold
Check whether there is a level floor, an existing step or an existing door track. Photograph the full threshold width and any height differences from the side.
If there are uneven or loose areas, drainage channels or existing door tracks, do not grind them flat or cut them away yourself. Confirm the installation plan first.
05
Four essential photos for each opening
Photograph the right areas so the installation conditions can be seen clearly.
01
Whole opening
Stand on the side where the screen will be installed, step back a few paces, and include the top, floor, and left and right frame sides in the photo.
Show the whole opening in a straight-on photo, without cropping its edges.
02
Top fixing surface
Photograph near the top of the opening at an angle that shows the front and underside of the top frame, together with the intended track fixing position.
Show the fixing surface clearly, including any nearby door closer or other obstructions.
03
Bottom threshold and track
Point the camera towards the bottom of the opening and clearly photograph the floor, steps, threshold and any existing tracks.
Include the full opening width where possible, with height differences clearly visible.
04
Side frame and handle
Photograph the intended stacking side from a front-side angle, including the frame thickness, existing door handle and nearby obstructions.
For double doors, or if the two sides differ, add a photo of the other side.
For each position in the guided configuration process, choose ‘Take photo now’ or ‘Choose from photos / device’. Whether a phone can open the camera directly depends on the device and browser. Avoid faces, identity documents and other unrelated private information.
06
Check once more before submitting
Make the measurement basis clear, and photograph any issues.
Each opening’s number, installation side and fixing method have been recorded. For reveal fit, keep all four readings; for face fit, check the finished width and height with allowances already added.
Repeat the measurements and aim to keep measurement error within 3 mm. This does not mean that the top and bottom widths or left and right heights must differ by no more than 3 mm.
Include explanatory photos if the opening is narrower in the middle or out of square, the threshold has a height difference, the handle protrudes, or similar issues are present.
After changing between reveal fit and face fit, recheck the width and height references and the required entry basis. Do not reuse dimensions without checking them.
Final production dimensions are those stated in the measurement sheet and written quote following manual review.
The demonstration shows how the panels fold to the side. Photos help illustrate frame, handle and track positions, but do not replace measurements of your own opening.
Measurements help us review fit and prepare a quote. Before installation, also check the components, mounting surfaces, tools and suitable fixing method.
